Picnic With Lady Edwina Lordly Chamier

The Chester Municipal Heritage Society is hosting its 4th Take-Home-Picnic Fundraiser, Saturday, July 26, 2025.

The Board of the Chester Municipal Heritage Society continues its efforts to establish a firm financial base for the organisation which both advocates for and preserves the heritage of the historic Chester Municipality.

Every other year, the organization hosts this Picnic Fundraiser to support its special projects.

This year the monies will be used to update and renovate Maple Cottage into much needed rental housing. Maple Cottage will then be revenue producing year round to support the exhibits, the research, and the archives which enhance Chester Municipality's historic uniqueness.

Fun Fact: Edwina's exploites representing Canada at the 1936 Olympics are an important, but little known part of Chester's history. Another Chesterite, Marion Miller, (Oscar Straus's mother) also participated as an Alpine skier in these Olympics.

Edwina has ordered her own delectible picnic and invites you to order yours now to share with your family and friends. She says remember, there are only 100 baskets, each with food for either one or two people. Order forms are available now so order soon as these baskets sell out every time.

You will have a night off of cooking. You can plan to gather with family and friends for a special evening in your home, on a boat or location of your choosing.

Tom Connors and his talented team of food lovers and volunteers are back, crafting an unforgettable gourmet picnic for 100 lucky supporters! Choose from beautifully curated baskets for one or two people, available at five generous tiers of support for the Chester Heritage Society.

Each basket is packed with charm: vintage wine glasses, elegant linens, a classic picnic cloth, and everything you need for a delicious, no-fuss meal. We’re proud to say our containers are compostable where possible, and everything else can be recycled when returned to Lordly House.

Pick up your basket on July 26 between 1–4 PM at the Chester Legion — or let us deliver to you in the Village!

Not only will you enjoy a mouth-watering meal, but you’ll also be supporting the essential work of the Chester Heritage Society.
